Liski Group Oy – practical medical product development since 2014

In the mechanical design of medical devices, it is important to consider regulatory requirements, cost structure and manufacturability already at the early stages of design. When these factors are signed in time, expensive approvals and production are avoided and smooth progress is ensured.

I founded Liski Group in 2014. I already had strong experience in mechanical design and product development even before founding the company.

At that time, jobs were already focused on product development for medical devices. The idea ofstarting my own company was already there when I applied for my last job, but the clarity and ease of paid work still guided me to continue in paid work.

My situation changed in 2014, when my employer started to reduce staff. I started thinking more about entrepreneurship and Liski Group Oy was born.

In the same year, my previous employer also contacted me and asked if I was interested in their projects.

This really sparked interest, and Liski Group also got another customer, also a company that manufactures medical devices. Since then, the customer base has grown more through its own networks, because well-done work speaks for itself and carries the message forward.

The basic idea behind founding the company was to harness all of its expertise for product development projects. In the service of a company or working on one product, not all of its expertise can be revealed. Passion for product development requires diverse projects and continuous creation of new things.

One of the company’s key valuesin product development and design work is appropriateness. It means combining common sense with strong expertise and innovation. Too much use of clichéd engineering work for gimmicks for private pleasure and timing, the original customer need and solution concreteness remain in the background.

Another key starting point of the company’s business plan is to develop solutions that are genuinely implementable in practice and significantly cost-effective.

Common sense comes with it even then, no matter what high-tech product you are making. The goal is to make product development and design so clear and practical that you don’t need to call the workshop and ask: “Are you coming to visit? How did you plan to do this?”

Listening to the customer is an essential part of a successful product development project. It is important to understand and respect the customer’s valuesand operating methods, but at the same time to really have the courage to question and suggest improvements to familiar solutions.

Liski Group started its operations in a home office, which is still part of everyday life. As operations grew, the company expanded to its own premises in the center of Riihimäki. In addition to myself, I especially employ 1–2 designers as needed.

Liski Group has built a strong network of mechanical design; with companies specializing in design, electronics, software development and manufacturing. Stakeholders can find valuable perspectives, both in product development and in solving challenging problems. The “don’t give help, don’t give it” approach is completely foreign to us.

Liski Group offers clear and transparent design and product development services. The customer demands to be kept up to date on the progress of the project, and a suitable direction for changes in flexibility.

The customer does not need to be an expert in design or product development. We also help clarify the goal and define product specifications. When the direction is clear, we build the entire project around it. The project is open and consistent, and the customer knows what is being done and why at all times.

A clear goal and a controlled project lead to a functional outcome.

Contact us and we will make a free preliminary needs assessment of your project.
